Things that really freak you out!

Hi,

I don't know if this is a phobia as such but it just REALLY freaks me out!

I am terrified of shellfish!!!..... I know how bizzare this sounds and completely irrational. I now they are dead/cooked or whatever!

I have always hated them, I'm fine if people are eating it etc but can't stand it near me - but today my mum & sister had a lobster (already cooked) and I actually screamed when I opened the fridge!....my whole family thinks it is hilarious and love holding them up to me!

I've had a horrendous evening at my mums coz my son (4yrs) actually started chasing me around the sitting room with it (he was just playing - didn't really realise how I was) and my mum put it on my knee when I wasn't looking! .. I was mortified and my heart is still racing & my skin is crawling!.... I can see my self waking up in a cold sweat in the early hours!

Am I completely and utterly mental or do other people have such bizarre 'phobias' too?

it was really freaky when my llama ate my cat then it swallowed a lump of cheese.he farted and it was so bad that it came out his ears.many people still smell of llama fart,which cant be a bad thing these days.

i have a phobia about my mums bone handled knives. My nan, who i don't see anymore due to family problems on dads side, used to have them as well. Due to all the horrible things that happened i have really built up a phobia about these bl00dy knives. I actually use something else to take another knife out of the draw and if i accidently touch one i get a shiver down my spine and i feel sick. How Bizarre, i can't help it, even when i open the draw i see them and it turns me cold.
Please get new knives mum x

I admit I have a rather irrational fear of inflated balloons.
It's dreadfully stupid to others but there it is ,I can't explain it.

why is it that when someone has a phobia everyone else finds it so funny. Poor silver fox with his 4 yrs old chasing him around - i couldn't stop laughing, Sorry x

Omg True Blue , tonight I shall probably have a nightmare of being chased by someone holding a knife in one hand and balloons in the other. :-)

You see, other peoples phobias are definitely funnier - how can you be scared of an orange!!!

I'm scared of inflated balloons too!! (not as bad as spiders tho!! Phobic about them) My fear apparently goes back to me as a baby,when I used to love balloons being burst and paper bags too. My parents got me a really big balloon,but,it burst at the wrong time,in front of my face,actually cut me,and terrified me for life!!

hi linda, oh you me and bigmamma could start a club then! I think my fear of balloons goes back to having a childrens birthday party, when I was very small, and it burst whilst playing "pass the balloon between your legs"

I also really hate spiders. And bats (but don't come across them too often) !

Now they're all fine for me but I hate slugs too - I can live with them I guess, they're just slimy and gross!

Hi Trinny,the balloons and noise also transfer themselves to crackers at Christmas! It's a standing family joke,that I try to get out of pulling one,or,close my ear with one hand,and use the other to pull the horrible thing lol
