Sunday when dry is the traditional time for lawnmowing, so you're on to a loser there. It has to be mowed sometime. Sleeping pills, earplugs, double glazing might help.

thanks jno but i could tolerate once a week cutting the grass but not everyday 2 days, also have double glazing still hear it, and its hot here in scotland so have to have the windows open or i will roast, and those yappy dogs, and her grating voice, she does speak she shouts and bangs things, and as she doesnt work its like she has to be constantly in the garden!
What you need is a recording combining foxes howling at night, magpies, sodding magpies croaking by day, an aircraft going over ever 30 seconds, a car alarm going off every morning at 3am, and 4am, and 5am, and Penelope Keith doing a talking book.
does she know you work nights?
one of my neighbours does and it can be a annoying adjusting my life to fit in around her work but i'm happy to do it because she is very nice and deserves it - maybe if you asked her really nicely and brought her a bunch of flowers / box of chocs when you ask? it worked on me and she is so nice to me i don't want to upset her (she even brought me a casserole dinner round the other day and often looks out for my house if i'm away)
so my advice is go OTT buttering her up and she'll be guilted into being quiet till the afternoon without to much bother (just make sure you tell her when you would wake up so she can still plan everything noisy later)

failing that those wax based ear plugs work an absolute charm and are quite comfy too
I also work shifts so I do sympathise, but in the end it's no good expecting millions of muggles to rework their daily lives around the needs of a minority like us. Apart from earplugs (they do work) could you sleep in a different room?
Sorry to hear your plight puddicat - must be very frustrating & tiring for you.

I'm a very light sleeper, so use ear plugs at night & they do help. Mind you, I have to cut them in half as I only have small ears!

I wish you luck for the rest of the summer!

thnks for your suggestions, will try ear plugs, can i get them from boots perhaps!, by the way still not gone to bed, went to the gym instead,my head was banging and i felt jetlagged, feel ok now, a bit stiff and hot but otherwise ok, will sleep well 2nite have a couple of red wines after all the excersise, the army could do a parade round my bed and i couldnt care less, at least for 2nite as i am off until tuesday and it starts all over again!
puddicat - I do have sympathy!! People can be thoughtless at times. Earplugs do work, you can get them from superdrug or Boots.
Poison the dogs (I fcuking hate dogs with a passion)
wait until 3 o clock in the morning and tip bleach over her lawn, no need to mow it for weekn and weeks
