Hi nannon
have you tried Ultra Chloraseptic anaesthetic throat spray? i swore by it when I was shouting orders at recruits in the Army, you could also try a wee glass of Port on Friday night
it comes in cherry flavour as well.

The spray that is, not the port lol
Gargle with TCP it may make you smell like an old granny but it works.

oh is that in a green bottle?? with like a white straw thing? if it is i have tried it...didnt seemto work that well - i think its because it is achey and swollen glands as well...
Port could be an option though - only for medicinal purposes of course.....!

thanks
Hey nannon, its easily spread maybe you shouldnt go. Sorry! Lots of kids and elderly at weddings and its such a horrid illness.

When I had it nothing helped.
Question Author
TCP? oh my goodness - does it make you sick?? oh well - i guess if it works...could clear up the million and one ulcers that have appeared as well i guess!!!!
Question Author
goodsoulette -its ok - i am not contagious - had G.F about a year ago but every time i get a little sick it develops into these symptons. Contagiyos bit only lasts like 7 weeks or something...? Had to go to docs to be sure just so i could come back to work!!!!!!!!
has your doc given you antibiotics nannon?
they should start to work as soon as you take then, you should start to feel better after about 2 hours after your first dose
No it doesn't make you sick, you have to dilute it, instructions are on the bottle.
No no no no..... antibiotics with glandular fever just gives you a rash. My doc thought I had tonsilitis when I first got it and I ended up with a comedy rash, it was like I had dabbed myself with pink lipstick all over. Looked ridiculous.

I have heard glandular fever can stay in your sytem, I was lucky to have it for ten days only.
Hells teeth!!!!
never gargle undiluted TCP nannon
your vomit would land in Germany if you did
Question Author
oops - lucky you said about the TCP as i never read instructions!!

Goodsoulette - i wish mine only lasted 10 days!!Bet it was an awful 10 days though huh?! Its a ****** of a thing. I had it when i was 14, 18 and now at 22 - its is a nightmare - cant do anything as cant risk getting tired....it's rubbish! Dont think i have had it full blown each time but all the symptons for definate!!!
Large measure of brandy (or whiskey, whatever) in a cup of lemsip with honey and some finely chopped ginger.

Or... if like me you're not a masive fan of lemsip you could use a ginger and lemon tea bag.
Question Author
oh and no anti biotics - they dont treat G.F unfortunately
i have the same reoccuring problem with my throat but i also get chest infection with it, ive also got a wedding to go to , the wedding of one of my closest friends and i feel like total crap atm
There's not much you can do for a sore throat I'm afraid.I just drink lots of hot drinks and hope it goes away. The throat lozengers don't work at all. Try lemon tea.
