Watching cbs news and they have just said that myspace have discovered 29,000 registered sex offenders on mytspace using their real names.
they suspect figures could be double as some are using alias names.

i mention teenagers not any particular sex.
do you assume guys wont go on there pretending to be young girls to get young boys??

the only sure way to protect kids in this instance is by realistically educating them of the dangers
saying no, no, no, no and banning things just simply doesn't work - show me one thing that was ever banned theat people just stopped using? and i will show you hundreds that became mor epowerful because of the ban.
its a cliche that you always want what you cannot have - and its true in many circumstances - kids will just 'go underground' and do it in secret.
my dad was nightmare - searched through our bins, went through everything, followed us, listened at doors etc etc - all we did was become experts in hiding it and skilled in getting away with things....goody ios right about that - its what kids do.
there are a ways of ''banning'' something, and the success lies in convincing the kids that it is a good plan, not just saying 'no', with no explanation.
myspace is generally safe, but like with anything there are always a some who abuse it - teach your kids the warning signs, what to look out for, what words and phrases are innaproppriate, not to believe everything they read and explain they these people are necessarily who they say they are, and that anyone who wants to meet a child is likely not a good person - but say it in a way they can understand, not all scaremongering and fear of god stuff - doesn't work...

Why is it when someone disagrees with you legend you fly off the handle? people are allowed a viewpoint, maybe you spend a bit too much time on here? it seems to put you in a bad mood so perhaps you could enjoy the sun of Tenerife, i know if i lived there i wouldn't be spending all my free time on here, learn to relax, do they do rescue remedy over there?

its quite simple there are a lot of know sex offenders on myspace , over 29,000 in america alone .

now if you were to think how amny otheres then it would be quite scary letting your kids online without supervision.
if you cant or dont supervise them then surely the better option is to remove the internet from the equation.
