Just to say a massive thank you to all who advised me on my first tattoo earlier this week in b & s.
I had it done this morning, and I am more than pleased with it! It's really beautiful, and a lasting symbolisation of something very personal to me :)

It didn't hurt anywhere near as much as I expected, and was really quite quick. I will perhaps try and post a picture at some point, for those who are interested.

Thanks again.

Glad it went well leelapops and that you are pleased with it. It would be a relief for it to have been quicker and less painful than you expected.:-) Will you be having another one done ?

It was a follow-on really, fine, thanks, don't worry yourself over it though, if it's all that bad to express gratitude to people who helped me with something I felt important, I am sure Ed will wipe the thread, cheers.

Thanks, tiny. hau kola, I will post a photo asap :) It wasn't so bad, I think you'd be pleasantly surprised!

bm, thank you so much! I was very chuffed that it flew by, believe me! Apparently you can't stop at one, but I am sure I could if I wanted to! If there is another time in my life that I feel should be celebrated with ink, then perhaps. I would do it again if it felt right.

Doc Spock, that's OK. Why apologise for your opinion, and profess it anyway? I don't really care what you think, cheap I am not, so I at least am safe in the knowledge!

cool, I am glad it went well (despite all the horror stories!) It would be great if you posted a pic of it on here!

Thanks cazzz :) I think as long as the tattooist is reputable, there isn't a problem. He didn't set up until I was in the room, so I could verify that the needles were fresh and that he was clean etc., and I appreciated that, especially as first timer! He also answered all my (probably quite stupid!) questions, and was very thorough in explaining what he was doing and how.
So it's on my right calf, above my ankle:

Oh wow,its fab.Really beautiful. It must have taken quite a while to do?
Question Author
hau kola, what a lovely thing to say, thank you :) Actually it was fairly quick-maybe an hour and a quarter? The guy was a real pro, very experienced, and laid back without being obviously placatory. I felt very comfortable, and if ever I was to be tattooed again, I would definitely go to him!
Thanks again for your lovely comments x
Hi there, I think your tattoo looks just lovely, very pretty. Lets hope the weather lasts long enough for you to show it off!
Thhat looks very cool, great design!
Question Author
topbird, thank you very much :) Me too! I have never been one for skirts etc, but I guess I have no choice now! Well, except when my parents visit...They'll NEVER know!! haha. Oh dear, I am a wuss!

tiny, thank you. My friends have complimented it, but it's nice to hear that other less biased people like it too!

Hope everyone is OK today. x
As a person who has a phobia of Moths and Butterflies this should make me shudder, but to be honest this is one of the most beautiful tattoo's Ive ever seen. I hope you wear it with pride. Its stunning. xx
Question Author
rachel, what a lovely thing to say! Thank you very much. Maybe we could do some aversion therapy with it! Butterflies are really beautiful to me, moths a little less so maybe! Can I ask why you aren't keen? Is it their flappiness (no it really IS a word!)?
I keep lifting up my jeans to show myself it! It's fabulous, and I am very pleased I did it. x
Well when I was about 10 a huge (it seemed huge) butterfly landed on my chest and I literally felt like I couldnt breathe. I was just so scared. I dont really remember having any incidents as such after that, until 10 years later I moved from London to Southend, and the moths and butterflies seem so much bigger. Its quite woody where I live so I get lots of insects, including moths and butterflies, inviting themselves into my house.
Im sure people walking past my house must think Im being attacked because for a woman with quite a deep voice you'd be suprised how high pitched my screams are!
Moths are worse for me because I think they are too flappy. Butterflies are beautiful looking but not beautiful enough to stop me leaping down the road to avoid one. :)

Oh rachel, that sounds like a disturbing experience! No wonder they panic you so much. And of course in such a lovely area, they must be RIFE!
Nice from a distance though, like you say. You need some kind of repellent forcefield! x
So pretty! Can I ask where you had it done?

Well, obviously I can ask, cos I just did, but would you mind telling me? You know what I mean!!

I've got the following tattoos and would like toa dd to my collection. I don't mean I would copy yours cos I think that's horrible to do that - I don't even like having the flash stuff cos they are all the same.

Wings on each ankle, vine leaves on my lower back, a flower on my hip, a bunch of freesias on my upper back (ouch!!), a wierd symbol thing on my upper arm, a butterfly on one wrist, a wolf paw print on the other wrist, and cherry blossoms in both armpits.

That seems like a lot when I write it all out!!

xx

doglady you are running out of space! Thank you for your kind comments. Yours sound beautiful, very unique, and I bet they enhance your natural beauty.

You are right about the flash stuff, I think it's great to find something pre-prepared that you love, especially if it's JUST what you were after, but it's also such a nice feeling to have designed something yourself that is with you forever.
Not seen armpit tattoos before-that sounds really different! What would you like next?

I went to a guy called "D", in Dalton, Cumbria. He was an absolute pro, and made me feel so relaxed. The shop's site is: http://www.eyeoftheneedle.co.uk/index.html and I would thoroughly recommend them. You'll see a mini-gallery of his recent work, but he's got a whole portfolio if you ask.
The dog's head that you will see on a guy's back is actually my friend's hubby-it's a portrait of their Staffy, Gladys, and is very accurate, and has come out super-well!

Thanks again, I would love to hear what you go for. x
Does anybody know of any good tattooists in the Doncaster area please? I would love to have three flying swallows done on my outer forearm, perhaps with the initials RW in between them....................... but have had no recommendations for anybody in this area, only further afield and I don't drive. Thanks.
