Film 'Idiocracy'

For those who haven't seen it, the film implies that people with low IQs breed children with low IQs and people with high IQs breed children with high IQs.

It also goes several steps further.

1) If the parents have a high IQ they are less likely to breed, and even if they do breed they will have less children and those children will have high IQs

2)If the parents have a low IQ they will breed in huge amounts and have children with low IQs.

3) There will therefore be a massive amount of people with lower and lower IQs floating around, the IQs getting lower for each generation.

Are we really likely to get there?

Is this supposed to be a problem with our species as a whole or with modern western society?

If it were true shouldn't we all be dribbling morons by now?

It was actually one of my top ten worst films ever, and thank you for all your answers. I'm not an advocate of IQ, and this film was totally annoying. If it were the case that the IQs of your parents = your IQ then geniouses would never be born.

considering that the human race started out as a species of ape, you'd think we'd have regressed to the IQ of plankton by now. But it's actually going the other way. Some of us are quite bright. So I guess the theory is lacking a certain something.
