Are bright girls fools in love?
13 Answers
Career women are known for being headstrong, controlling and very confident. But some claims have suggested that they are following their heads and not their hearts and are making love mistakes that end in divorce. There have been suggestions that women who have high IQs, have low emotional IQs which means that they cannot have normally functioning relationships. What do you think? Have you had any experience of this?

What claims? Where? How are they following their heads?
Who suggested it? On what basis? (What's an emotional IQ?!)
Have I experience of what? Having an IQ? Apparently not.
I'm not entirely sure I know what a 'normally functioning relationship' is either... everyone I know seems slightly dysfunctional. Including myself actually...

Would be interested to know what the yardstick was that was used in defining a normally functioning relationship.
Is it one where the man makes all the decisions and the 'little woman' is a compliant stay-at-home wife(due to her low IQ) and therefore doesn't challenge his dominance ?
Wow ! Who wouldn't sign on for a relationship like that, eh ?

Well thank the heavens that Mrs O is not a career woman, as she would be headstrong, controlling and confident. Also, I would be a mistake and we would be taking divorce proceedings.
It is most fortunate that Mrs O has a low IQ but a high emotional IQ and this allows us to have a normally functioning relationship.
I will look out the bedroom window tonight and count my lucky stars.

Well, of course, women who want a career are a bit funny in the head, so they can't get any men to do them a favour and take them down the aisle, as they, of course, eminate waves of emotional stupidity.
What a load of pants! "AB Asks" stupid questions to provoke people, but MrBen5 has already done that with his insinuation that what's going on in the world is for men's ears only.
Again, "Women! Know your place!" springs to mind.
lol @ Octavius' punctuation remark.
There isn't any such thing as "normal", certainly not in relationships.

Cheers Groms, suspected as much ;0)
Stupid phrasing aside there is something to women following their heads when they marry.
I know a couplr of girls around my age who have got married recently and have actually said they love their partners but are not 'in love' with them. (Whatever that means.) Anyway, before they got married they both said similar things along the lines of they were looking for companionship/friendship, a good father to children, security and of course they didn't want to be left on the shelf.
I think their reasoning is sound and I can't fault it. But I do feel sorry for the husbands. I don't think I'd like to be someones equivelant of a security blanket.
It did make me wonder if men do the same thing as well. I don't think they do particularly as they don't have the 'left on the shelf' fear that some women seem to get. But then I guess men don't have a biological clock either.
Anyway, not really sure where I'm going with all that... just typing and thinking at the same time... always dangerous!

There is still a lot of pressure on people to marry or become 'attached'. It is the same for men as well as women. I don't believe that career women have higher IQs, more failed relationships, or low emotional intelligence than the rest of womankind.
Of all the intelligent women, all over the world, the best example this article could offer was a woman who once used to read the news.
I stand by my twaddle assessment.

Champers - Well you've certainly answered a couple of questions for me in the past... (wolfbagging)!
Gromit - As far as the article goes I completely agree with your twaddle sentiment. I don't think 'career women' are any different to... erm... 'non-career' (can't think of an alternative) women.
I was just speculating on women in general using their head to marry rather than the usual lovey dovey reasons is all.
