What does a wasp sting feel like?

Is it possible not to notice it as it happens?

Cheers

it feels like someeone has stuck a very large needle in you. it begins to throb quote quickly and starts as a small-ish red dot that grows larger over time. I'm allergic, though, so i dunno what happens if you're not.
i guess if someone was swinging a basebat bat at your head ast the time the wasp stung you, you might not notice, otherwise OWWWW it bl00dy well hurts
As a pest controller of 13 years and stung hundreds of times, I can promise you that you would notice it!! it immediately hurts like a buqqer !!!
Going on my experience(s), I'd say it's impossible not to notice at the time. What have you done now, CD</B? ;o) x
I've got to the ripe old age of 43 without ever being stung by either a wasp or a bee, or other stingy things.

I've got no idea whether I would go into anaphylactic shock were one to seek me out !

Whilst I don't intend to go out to actively seek a stingy thing, there would be small comfort in finding out in a controlled way.
no experience of a small prick then monkey ?
I think you would notice if a wasp stung as they have quite a nasty one . I too am allergic to the sting and that makes me fear them greatly.

Other than my boss........................no ! :o)
Monkeyeyes - take comfort from the fact that only about 4 people die per year from anaphylaxis as a result of bee stings. In fact, you are more likely to get killed in a traffic accident while being rushed to hospital!

i have to carry adrenaline in case i get stung. fortunately. i haven't had to use it in 20 years!

Ta all... stars to follow at a later date!

I don't know Whiskey! something has had a munch at me but I'm now not so concerned it's the wasp crawling around on my office floor. It's just a bit stingy... and kind of itchy. I must be a walking buffet or something...
often the first one you get is barely noticeable, barely a pinprick, and no reaction, but it sets up your body's immune system. This happened to me. I got stung again two days later (there was a nest in the ceiling) and this time my arm swelled up and throbbed like blazes. So try to avoid the little blighters for a while.
