did anyone see last nights metoer shower?

I stayed up till the wee hours last night (this early AM)) but couldn't see anything :-( I live in Kent and as told to look towards the North...maybe I was looking in the wrong place as today i hear i should've looked to the east????

It's supposed to be tonight, between 11pm and 2am, looking to the east apparently.

Well I shall (try) stay awake again tonight. You're right Petal flower the MAIN shower is supposed to be tonight but the entire "show" is over four or five days. Cheesefreak I'll be checking out the east later and as for poor crossroads....try a cup of chamomile to drink before bed and also put some lavender and neroli oil in a mug of steaming water before bed, (don't drink this tho!)

it was v. cloudy here last night, but i still caught a few glimpses of some "shooting stars" through the clouds, am staying up late to watch the main event tonight.

I'm sure BBC news said the further south you were , the more likely you were to get a good view. But they were talking places like Tunisia and Morocco, so i don't think it actually matters where in the UK you are. maybe the people in Devon will get a slightly better view than the people in Lerwick!

The only time that I ever saw a shooting star was in the gambia a few years ago. Me and mrs nonutts where walking into a bar and I dont know why but we just looked up into the sky at the same time and there was this great big light coasting across the sky and burning up.

It was such a fantastic sight that it will be my little brain forever as the sky at night in the gambia is so clear and as it is very near the equatere (god can you spell that) and in the gambia there is not a moon sometimes at night and on that night there was not one and I could go on but have to fall asleap now as I am boring myself

The meteor showers will be visible over a period of a few days, peaking tonight/tomorrow morning (Sun/Mon) - look to the northeast, best away from street lights if you can but so long as we have no heavy cloud you should see something !

It happens every year (there are a few that come each year but this is my favourite one)

They are called the 'Perseids' and will be everywhere in the sky on Sunday night after about 10pm up to just before dawn. it will be a new moon as well so should be well dark!

Has anyone been looking for the ISS and the space shuttle Endeavour the last couple of night? Was cool to see

evedawn, my sister has said she see quite a lot last night sat in her back garden in kent. I think it depends on the cloud and light pollution as to how much you will see.
I have been told to look towards the north east.

north-east, I think. I'm not too sure why something in the north should be clearer when you're as far south as Tunisia, but I'm not an astronomer.
