I need to pick you brains there's an opportunity come up at work for a few of us to go out to India for 2wks in October to introduce new processes and deliver a training program/provide support within our overseas call centre
Problem is, my boss, his boss and the project manager have told me that they would really like me to go and will work around whatever dates I can go I'm going to speak to my hubby properly tonight, but he thinks that we can work something out between everyone (grandparents too) so it shouldn't be a problem for childcare etc and my son starts school on 3rd Sept so should be settled by then (hopefully). I'm really flattered to be asked and know that it's a great opportunity blah blah blah, but don't know what to do what do you reckon?? ...could I leave my hubby and son for 2wks for the sake of my job or should I let the opportunity go?
Hi A,
I go out to Kenya a couple of times a year for three weeks at a time
Yes I miss my boys but can do so much good out there
You are a mother and a wife, bit also a successful career woman.
I think you should take the opportunity, yes you will miss them but it is only for two weeks and certainly my experience has made me a better person with a wider knowledge of cultures etc. Your family would benefit from your trip too.
You obviously have the skills they need, who knows this may be a new door openning for you all.
Good luck
Peter
Go for it. It's only two weeks that'll fly by and the experience you'll gain from it may benefit you enormously in your line if work. This is one of those once in a life time opportunities that you can't let pass you by. You may regret it if you do....
Stop asking, start packing! Seriously, A, it's two weeks, your hubby does sound very supportive and is already making arrangements to make your trip as easy as possible. I really recommend you go. India is incredible (it's on my places to go list, haha!) and you have been chosen specifically, presumably because your company really values your skills and qualities for the task in hand.
