Different hair types and biological makeup. Body hair is androgenic hair and the growth rate is dependant upon the level of androgens � male hormones - in the individual human body, hence men tend to be hairier than women, well, apart my old PE teacher anyway. The hair on our head is terminal hair, typified by packed cells and thus coarser, thicker and longer.
