family love?
71 Answers
I went to my mums sisters house this weekend and I have always fancied my mums nephew, my cousin, he is really fit and he's about 26. when I went round we have always flirted but I was feeling a bit low as the bloke I am in love with doesn't seem to want to know, so I flirted extra hard with my cousin, he kissed me and then we had sex, it was good and I really fancy him and I think I love him but I don't know if this is wrong or not, is it wrong for cousins to be in love? are cousins really family? TIA xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

while the "disgusting" argument is quite strong, and yourself and this man are blood relatives - have you been brought up quite closely? Is there a strong family connection there, or is he more like a mate?
Personally i wouldn't bed my cousin, but i know its not unheard of. Reading your post, my main concern isn't actually that he's related to you, but that you're in a vulnerable position right now, and maybe jumping into bed with a man - any man - might not be such a good idea.
does he love you back? what will your mum and his mum think? you'd have to be 110% sure it's true love on both sides and not just rebound sex before you potentially go and cause a huge family rift.
Good Luck!

It is estimated that at least 55% of British Pakistanis are married to first cousins and the tradition is also common among some other South Asian communities and in some Middle Eastern countries. It was also very common in Victorian England, so it is not as taboo as you might like to believe.
It is obviously personal preference and mutual intent as there is an argument that such unions are seen as strong, building as they do on already tight family networks and you have the same family history. Perhaps he would like 2 wives, this is therefore acceptable in certain faiths and countries, but not in the UK whiffey, so you would have to elope.
