The news has been full of killings or attacks by (drunk?) teenagers when confronted by innocent citizens protecting their property.
Would you still approach a gang of youths to ask them to stop doing something, despite the possible danger, or do you think it's safer to let them do whatever it is they're doing regardless of the damage being done?

Hi miffy63,
All depending on the circumstances, a definate yes, and it wouldn't be the first time, in most cases, not all of course, its the way you deal with the situation, and i have no problem dealing with a group of lads, its when girls are involved, i'm a bit unsure how to deal with them, and tend to back off.
Yep and I would not ask them I would show the litte cruds how to stop doing it, it has become a fight fire with fire country at this moment and if this goverment wants to namby pamby them then they will just have to learn the hard way.
Bring back the cops like gene hunt as in life on mars.

And I hope this it not another of your alliarses whiffey
No, I would not challenge any groups of youths.
Too many people murdered now for doing what they believe is right.
I would have no hesitation in calling the Police though.
I am probably the least violent person you could imagine. However, I would approach them without fear.

All I would say is if they manage to get a punch in they better knock me out or if they have a knife, they bloody well use it. Otherwise I would happily rip their eyes out. It is relatively easy to permeantly blind somebody in close combat.

If they are getting the better of you, just make sure one of them is hopitalized so therefore traceable re any criminal prosecution. If that means breaking the jaw or ripping the breast off a 13 year old girl, so be it.

Survival of the fittest and and all that.

nonuts, you will look a bit silly with a Sabatier sticking out from your bum.

My answer is, no, I avoid them, I cross the road, I pass by on the other side. Society has f*cked up on this one. There is no solution except to keep clear. The affected areas will gradually spread outwards, property prices will plummet, and we will have the kind of society you can all see for yourselves in the C--------n or A----------a.

Oi I might like a big sword sticking out of my ars@ never been confussed though

I think that the only way is to approach with caution. The police don't seem to be able to do anything, I agree with bringing back 70's style policing too!
I asked a lad to pick up some litter he'd dropped today and although he did pick it up he swore under his breath and rolled his eyes, he was on his own but I wonder if he'd been with friends there might have been a different reaction.
I have done this alot in the past, out village at one time had several idiots. lately it has improved because there was more police presence in the centre of the village. I don't want the days to come back that saw yobs walking through the village scratching cars and throwing bins around, but if it started again i wouldn't hesitate to let them know I would call the police, that is the best way of dealing with them.
Yes I would. I did this a few months ago when an elderly relative phoned me in tears as a gang of lads spent every evening kicking a ball against the end wall of her house, and then trampled her flowerbeds retrieving the ball. I did not approach them in an aggressive way but calmly explained the error of their ways. They had no idea they'd caused so much upset and actually apologised. I also put my fourpenn'orth in with a couple of hoodies with their feet up on a bus seat recently and they looked shamefaced. I guess I'd think twice if they'd being drinking or appeared to be 'high'.
Tottaly agree with you wardy and I dont agree with violence as well apart from to little pr@cks that think that the law will not do anything to them if they maim break or kill they are going to learn one day as the tide will turn on the asoles eventually.
Mind you eventually things will turn into gang wars again about territorry (scuse spelling again) and most of them will be stupid enough to kill the other of and just watch there parents grieve and say "oh my god my little johney was an angel he would not harm a fly and he was not in a gang all he ever done was play on his nintendo" yea yea talk to the f@cking hand.

Whoops sorry here will come of me soapbox now and am awaiting doc spock to come on here at 9 pm

Dot I do respect your opinion on here but if you tell them to go away or you will call the police how long are the police going to be before they arrive you could have concieved and given birth before they got there and then they would tell you to stop harrasing them and the little morons know this so do you acctually believe that they are going to take any notice of you saying go away or I will call the police
You have to look and sound like you could quite happily give them a kicking. If you aren't prepared to do this or are not that kind of person, best stay away and call the police.
I just love it when, in 2007, people say call the Police, what police?, in my town, they closed the Police Station, all we get now, is a Panda car whizzing through occasionally.
Mind you, if you, as the law abiding citizen hurts one of the miscreants, they'll show up and arrest you.

Be warned.
The day of the Vigilante is not far off.
No way...Too scared!
i have called the police on several occasions in the past and they always arrive very quickley, I posted on here only a fw months ago about an incident, the police arrivd within minutes and had the culprits in custody based on my descriptions. In 18 years of loving in this village I can honestly say I have always found they responded well.

I have told groups of lads and girls i would call the police if they didn;t move out of the street when they have started a row at 3am, they usually take notice and move on. maybe i sound like i really mean it, though to be honest most of the kids in this village know i mean it,.
yes remember this guy who decided he had had enough ??

Can you condone this ?

Hi mattie have had this senarioe (you know what I mean even if I cant spell it) what you just said happen to me twice over the past couple of months.
Me and me g/f were walking back home one night a bit the worst for wear and me g/f fell over and a group of pack wolfs started picking on us and tried to abuse us , so told them to fruck of as you would do but they still went on so i picked up one of their bikes and threw it at them, that seemend to calm the turds down a little but then they decieded to follow us at a long distance so thought when the get to my turning where I live they will be very scared. so turnded left into the turning and they walked around the corner and they was confrunted wiv if any of you have got the guts to try and follow me any further then you will get your kin heads kicked in. and of course the leader of the pack made his excuses and took the rest of with it eventually (probbably forgot to take his knife)
I aint not no sucker that leaves his profile to anybody who wants to trace him to his house.
Anyway the other one happened last sundaybut was a bit more diplomatic about that W@nkers where outside our house throwing stuff at each other across the road and the road here is very small so it hit our cars so went to the front door and opened it and did not say anything just staired at them and they seemed to respond and went away witthen a few mins oh my god clint eastwood eat your heart out
Hi dot you are really lucky then to live in a village like you have but most of us live in the real world where the violence is getting so much out of hand but even in a village there has to be some nasty ones who try to control and even the old bill are not beyond corruption (sorry you know what I mean cant be artsed to pull me lexicon out)
Anyway hope yor holiday went well even though it was very many weeks ago and we is going to benidorm in a few weeks time so will have to drink cider and kebabs in the sun oh yes luvlie jubble by the way hows your slippers
I try to quickly judge the situation and would respond accordingly, sometimes confront, others not, as Lonnie says when girls are present it's different. I think the Lads don't back down as easy, also some of the girls are worse. My other half ran after a gang about a year ago who had just stole 3 bikes chained together from nextdoors garage, it was instinct I think, but they threw them at him and ran off with nothing, so on that occasion it worked. I'm careful of retribution if It's near my house, even if it's things thrown at the windows, it's hassle I can do without. I have two teenagers, and my Son inparticular is aware that some older people are wary of him when he walks past or behind them, in fact he was once running home (for fear of being late!) when the woman in front of him suddenly started running as well, realising he'd scared her, he stopped and shouted it's OK I'm just running home, and they both ended up breathless but laughing and relieved. I think that there are decent teeanagers out there doing teenage things that arn't vandalism or harmful to other people, but maybe irritate some and they "get tarred with the same brush" as someone deserving of an Asbo. Like you say Miffy your requests to stop littering or to not put feet on seats were responded to, in all honesty I personally wondered have bothered mentioning the feet on seats unless someone was without one. Littering, I tell anyone regardless of age.
*wouldn't*
