If you take only half a tablet will it get into your blood stream quicker because it has been broken in half or is it just half as weak and takes the same amount of time to get into your system?

The tablets that you are allowed to break in half will just be half as strong. The ones that say, dont chew, break or crush up it can alter the way they work and cause you damage.
Goodsoulette is dead right, when my mum was very ill and first came out of hospital she had so many drugs to take but her swallowing reflex wasn't that good so my dad used to sit there and lovingly crush or cut all her tablets into pieces, when the doc came home to Mum he gave my Dad a right telling off because some are made to disperse differently like slow release etc . We were actually messing with the medicine. Gone off the track here a bit but I would imagine if it was something basic like paracetamol etc it would just be like half the dose. I know for a fact dispersable tablets (mixed with water) get working quicker.
