Did anyone watch this last night?
It made me feel physically sick, especially when they explained how a dog near death was wired up with croc clips covered in water and then pluged intoi the mains as they had no other way of killing it.
This trade is sickening I dont understand how people do this!

And yet they showed how easy it was to bring on in the country in fact no one stopped them to even ask what breed the dog was whats up with that?

Well my puppy was attacked by an American pit bull and the only way we could remove it was with a metal bar, pepper spray and a hammer. This happened at puppy training classes with lots of people to help me. Had i been alone in the park for instance, Pickles would be dead for sure. These dogs should be banned and their owners bl**dy well be electicuted.
The incident with the footballer makes a laughing stock of the law...funny how when they were all confronted as well they denied everything!
Andrea, in the prog it was 2 BBC reporters that bought the dog 'nipper' into the country they were provided with papers and quite obviously came across on a ferry with it. It was in a cage in the back of an estate car quite clearly in view of anyone in teh authorities. they didn't hide him nothing.
I just dont get it

Well like I said I didn't see it, but if thats the case it just shows how much of a problem it is.
I know people from N Ireland and it is common knowledge that these people are into bigger things than this, most have contacts in drugs supplying and guns! I think they are very nasty people and I guess the authorities cant cope!
Very nasty for dogs, I bet the cruelty for animal groups are scared for themselves to get involved!

888sally888 are you American??
two reasons i ask.
In the UK American Pit Bulls are banned under The Dangerous Dogs Act. Hence they are illegal full stop.
Also under the Firearms Act, pepper spray is also classed as a Section 5 firearm, hence also illegal.
If you are in the UK, may I suggest you report the puppy class as a front for some kind of gangster establishment.

Someone posted re. this in "Animals and nature". I didn't know it was on, and would probably have wept all the way through if I had watched it. Words can't begin to explain what I would like to do to those who pit dogs against one another for "sport". It is vile and disgusting, whether it be the aristocracy of the 1800s, or the skinheaded drugdealing ****s of now.
Pit bulls are illegal here, but yes, they still make it over. In America they are banned in a few states I think. I am very much aware of their breed background, but as usual, humans are to blame for this, and I am told that pit bulls can make very good pets. Many are abandoned in the States-I think people get them, and only realise the reputation they have when others scoop up their dogs and children and cross the road at the sight of a pit bull.
When I googled dog-fighting, I also found a link to something called "hog-dogging", which goes on in the Southern States of America. This "family activity" involves placing a dog into a ring with a wild hog. The dog attacks the hog, and the hog is wounded badly, but not killed. If the hog isn't distressed enough, participants also allow their kids to chase the hog, whose snout is taped shut. Disgusting.

But it's on the same level as, say, Hare Coursing, and that's not just tolerated - it's huge (although thankfully banned in Northern Ireland). And some top celebs are involved in Coursing- Vinnie Jones for one.
