Wardy, can i just say that i for one was appalled at the abuse you suffered last night. I know you like to wind people up from time to time, and that a lot of people disagree with you - that's what debate is though - but last night was about 9 steps too far and no-one should have that kind of vitriolic sh1te thrown at them.

At least it's all been removed, but it seems the damage was done at that stage.

Who was throwing the sh1te, Whickerman? or aren't we allowed to find out...or aren't you allowed to say?

It was someone who had hijacked the name 'ne2', which is a user name that Feena uses. Feena was at pains to point out it wasn't him/her, but I really can't repeat the kind of hurtful comments made, except to say it referred to the man's deceased wife.
I was disgusted beyond belief and the comments were almost criminal in content. Hopefully never repeated.

Hi legend - I know that you were vocal about that too. Luckily for me i missed that, but it's exactly the kind of thing I would love to see stamped out on here. Surely the Ed can trace via IP address and ban a computer rather than a username?
Im confused as to whether hi-jacking is even possible, as quickly as it appeared to happen. Cant they trace an IP address?

Oh I see. I missed it..

The trouble is that these users know that commenting on Wardy's wife is all they have to try and get to him. Hopefully the Captain knows this and lets it ride.

Blimmin awful behaviour.
anyone can trace an IP address with the right software, some sites use message counting software that automatically tracks the IP number. You could only block a static IP number though, anyone on dial-up would not have a static IP so would be impossible to block.
we watched, and we reported it, I dont think anyone joined it, it was too severe

I get your point guys, but I'm not too sure that anyone with dial up would have the patience to keep this site refreshed?

And if you could see the speed these comments were coming in...

what I was meaning by IP address is that if you could match 2 users to the same IP???
Question Author
legend - to be honest I've thankfully missed that too, and could never condone it either.

There seems to be a strange case here though - i obviously don't know Feena and can only take their word that the abuse wasn't them. There's some odd behaviour here late at night, to say the least!
Very true, legend.

Not sure I want to get into a debate/argument about who is worse than the other but I must say that as I have seen the two of them go on at each other for a long while, I have never seen Wardy start the cursing.

He can post a perfectly reasonable thread or reply and she jumps on him like a raccoon on a can of beans. If she were not to do that he would ignore her.
thanks Daffy, Im presuming from that then that in the short space between postings the IP addy would be the same as it was too quick to be a re-dial. If the ED has the software it may be possible.
Someone was posting under another members username? This happened a couple of years ago to Estie, Dot and Dakota. Every username has a unique AB number, all it took was the perpetraitor to find out what that number was and do something (I can't remember what), that enabled him topost under those usernames.

stars to everyone btw - I can't keep up with the rating...!
if it was an imposter it would have to be someone who knew both and their history tho wouldnt it, theres more to this than meets the eye
