Do you think she will ever call me ?
19 Answers
Or do I have to walk for ever around Croydon cemetery trying to get to grips with The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, which frankly is a total bore. I am on chapter 16 and nothing has happened. At this point in Jane Eyre we would have reached the scene with Rochester in the moonlight where he threatens to send her to relatives in Ireland and she comes out with 'and from YOU Mr Rochester'

She lived in ableak part of the world, her influence for the hall was over the pennines from where I was born and it is a bleak place, no trees, too high up, no easy access even now, her outlook on life was intense and we see that as mundane, she was meticulous in her use of words and detail, and you see that as boreing, i see that as using her ability to colour an otherwise bleak time in her life, it is intense because she had to bury her emotions in something.
but those books were written by two completely different people, ann was younger and had seen death and loss at a younger age and not coped with it, emily and charlotte both experienced far more. Ann I think had far more talent and potential, she laboured over her work more and would never have gone for the celebrity charlotte did, ann's work was more personal i think. you are reading ann bronte, not emily or charlotte.

Sorry Whiffey but i don't know what your talking about here. Are you on about a book or your love life? The title reading " do you think she will ever call me" and your posts on an earlier thread make me think there is a woman involved am i right?
Why don't you call her? Send her flowers , say your sorry or whatever it takes. Give it a try you never know. Here's hoping :)

Awwww, poor Whiffey..... what a trial and torment for you.....
Has she rung you or are you still languishing over the Bront ?
Just for you, here's something to look forward to:-
Persistence
September 24th.- In the morning I rose, light and cheerful, nay, intensely happy. The hovering cloud cast over me by my aunt's views, and by the fear of not obtaining her consent, was lost in the bright effulgence of my own hopes, and the too delightful consciousness of requited love. It was a splendid morning; and I went out to enjoy it, in a quiet ramble in company with my own blissful thoughts. The dew was on the grass, and ten thousand' gossamers were waving in the breeze; the happy redbreast was pouring out its little soul in song, and my heart overflowed with silent hymns of gratitude and praise to Heaven.
