Just wondered why so many regulars on AB seem to have no other social life other than to sit here and talk to strangers!

certainly not upsetting me Ice maiden, I am not a person for social activity especially going in pubs, I get enough human interaction every day at work, it is a real treat to be somewhere peaceful and quiet. i have very little extended family as they are dead or live away, and my kids are all grown and have their own life. my close friends are all living away too and so i see them seldom but we chat regularly and often. I think i am able to contribute to this site mainly in a positive way and i enjoy it. If i was stuck at home 24/7 and on here endlessly I might feel some guilt, but i am not. I also don't feel that some of the people on here are strangers, not after interacting with them for this amount of time. It suits me fine and I think it is a very successful and popular passtime in this modern age.
Thanks originalang - that's what I was getting at. It was meant to be a light-hearted question as a friend of mine's thinking of joining AB - because her husband spends the evening in silence, so as a way of interacting with people she thought it might be nice to exchange views with loads of other people.
I discoverd AB when I googled a gardening question and linked me here. I tooled around the site and liked it. I was home a lot this past summer ailing for a sick parent and other than short trips to the store did spend a lot of time on here. I like it for many reasons: It's fun, I like being immersed in another culture so to speak, (am from US), and most of the people are very nice and funny.
