:( and skinned my knee.

I go on holidays on a week and really dont want a scab, is there anything I can do that wil either heal it up quicker than usual or stop it scabbing?

or failing that, is there any makeup or anything that would cover a scab?

I;d say try arnika I know its speeds up healing, mostly used for brusing but might work on cuts. Just DONT PICK!!
If its just a graze keep putting vaseline on it and don't let it dry out, it will look a bit green and yucky but the injured area will reduce and should be gone in a week with only a red mark left.
Hmmm, if you did the other kneee as well, it wouldnt look as bad.
I dont think there is anything you can do to stop it scabbing over though. I have had many injuries :(
Put a dressing (plaster) on it and leave the scab alone , it's there to keep secondary infection out, and if you are going overseas on your hols, the last thing you need is an infection.
Scabs should form over any cut or graze, they are a sign that the cut or graze is healing properly. A scab is made up of dried up blood, which protects you against germs. Its tempting to fiddle with scabs and pick them off, but try not to. Interfering always makes the cut or graze take longer to heal and means it could also leave a scar.

You could try rubbing moisturiser into the scab, but covering it up might slow down the natural healing process of drying out and falling off. Some make up might help I guess if it really is that important.

Thanks 4getmenot, I think i have some of that at home.

I think it's more than a graze warpig, it has taken the skin right off the whole top of it but it isn't deep and it isn't bleeding

thanks!
you can get these silver healing plasters from most chemists or boots

Don't plasters slow down the healing process though by keeping it moist?

I always thought that it was best to let the air at them?
You put the plaster on until your bodies defences have kicked in and formed the scab
take it off before you shower at night and put a new one on in the morning.
so many suggestions.... oh just chop your leg off :-)

wouldnt that leave a bigger scab 4getmenot?
Don't upset the healing process just go with the scab and wear it loud and proud!
well it would seem that everyone has a remedy. I can only speak from my own experience, which is that I have fallen twice taking the skin of the same cheek bone (no blood, just red dots on the surface) and both times I put vaseline on it, it didn't scab over, it didn't scar and it was gone in a week.

Best of luck whatever you decide but as 4get says -don't pick.
jeez I cant win can I. lol

;-)
plus I;d rather have a scab than look like heather mills :-)
When I have tattoo's I use bepanthene/bepanthol which I think is nappy rash cream. The scab comes off in the cream as opposed to hardening. Put some cream on the ncover it with cling film. Change this dressing 3 times a day for 3 days then on days 4 and 5 just put the cream on.

WQith your tattoos it makes them heal in a week with no scabbing or loss of colour
lol @ 4get, alternatively you could fall on the other knee too and have a matching pair.
My youngest son would be so jealous of you - he's at the age where he loves eating his scabs.
