What do you do when you have one of those colds that is confined to your nose- you sneeze constantly and your nose runs? Is that not ill enough to be off work? Do you take anything for it, or ride it out?

sweat a cold lol : -)
Try the hottest curry you can stand. The spices keep your nose clear (it will run and run while you eat so have tissues ready!) and help kill germs.

You will sweat as well which raises body temperature and again, this helps kill germs.

If you do not like curry try chilli concarne.

I'm with TTG (I read that as cocaine too!), try eating something spicy with lots of chillis. Also, when you can, rest with your head back, if that means laying on the sofa or sat on a chair with your head back - I find this helps clear sinuses. Try having a hot bath (steam does a lot of good) and resting as much as you can, wrap up warm and sweat it out.

I don't think I have ever taken time off work with a cold unless it turns into a cough or I am sneezing / snotting so much that it's not nice to listen to and other people don't want the germies!
Go sick for a cold?

I wouldn't be able to go sick for a cold- but my problem is that I have to play piano all day for my job- and since my nose is running literally constantly, that makes it very difficult!! plus as you say, snotting over others is horrid.

yeah but see theres a difference between a womans cold and a mans cold

men usually think its bejing flu, bird flu whatever and demand much more sympathy

...and they're always right.

In fact, women never get a real cold, not like us fellas. We get the real heavy sneezy killers, and frankly you fems have no idea what suffering is.

(Our colds are waaaaay worse than childbirth, so there.)
