My favourite person of the moment is Louis Theroux because of his opinions on his programme about plastic surgery last night. It's getting so sad that people believe they can only be happy if they look different/ "better". It's so superficial, it scares me.
And the winner for the most annoying person of the moment is Noel Edmunds because as far as I can see he has no talent, sincerity or purpose.
Who do you all like and dislike?

Noel Edmunds, if he never appears onTV again it would be too soon. Stupid hair, stupid shirts. stupid everything.

Yes, it was quite right he should be squirming. He made his patients feel unhappy with themselves in the first place, so that he could then make them feel "happy" after cutting bits off them or stuffing plastic in them at several thousand dollars a procedure.
I'm so glad I'm not American. Trouble is a lot of English people aspire to be like Americans.

At worst it makes him [the doctor] a good (if not immoral) salesman, but it does not detract from the fact that they [the clients] are gullible beauty chasing vanity freaks for approaching him in the first place. I thought the Louis Theroux programme last night was a bit of ratings desperation on behalf of his career.
Well he didnt identify any particular revelations now did he?
People who have plastic surgery are self degrading unfulfilled vanity seekers, who believe that they should conform to the perfect form or be cast out as an ugly freak
Usually I like his programmes when he lets the subject matter talk about their own illogical ethos like the Church one he did. 'Joining in as he did, was just like a Hollywood actor doing something (like going in a real prison, or living in a wheelchair for a month) to get some experience and method acting, rather than let their talent do what it is meant to do.

Plastic surgery for cosmetic/vanity purposes can look quite hideous on an older person, but if someone wants it for reconstruction after an accident or an unfortunate birth defect, then it's another matter. A relative of mine was born with a bad facial disfigurement. Over the years she's had umpteen operations to correct it. Two months ago, she got married & her wedding photos are beautiful. Without the help of the wonderful surgeons, she wouldn't be where she is today - but just for the sake of looking younger? No. Nature makes us what we are. We should accept it.
Yes, it was a bit different to his usual format. It had a big impact on me though. I often feel insecure about my looks, as a woman approaching 50. The pressure on women to look "good" is far greater than on men. His programme has made me promise myself I will never go down that route, as those people really frightened me. They were awful people. The men with the muscle implants looked ridiculous. The women's plastic bodies didn't look feminine.
I think what was evident was the addictive nature of (lets say) cosmetic surgery (as plastic surgery relates to what Ice Maiden is talking about). It appeared that the people he interviewed coincidentally were those who had just popped in for a nip, and then kept going back for a tuck and anything else they thought they needed/could afford. With the right people to interview/feature on the programme you can pretty much tell whatever side of the story you want to tell.
