hi,,, i think that they are ceramic plated, but not 100% solid ceramic......... i think that if u invest in a salon straightner u have 2 have the nack ov using them properly, my opinion is that if they r the right price, and protect your hair, leaving it silky straight then its good enough.....ghd, a bit 2 much overated!!!!    try t3 straightners  supposd 2 be the best and newest on the market
