I recently had a chlamydia test carried out at my GP's as i had had unprotected sex.. the doctor gave me a course of
doxycycline as a precaution, but only 4 day's worth. i have looked on the internet and most sites say for 7 days! I then got the swab results today, and they are inconclusive.. what does this mean? Also, does the fact that the doc only gave me 4 days worth of antibiotics mean that i am def in the clear? i have to go back for another swab next week.

He would not give you antibiotics if you are in the clear.

He has given you an appropriate course of treatment for chlamydia.

Inconclusive simply means the tests did not prove you have chlamydia, nor prove that you don't.

See what happens after the next test.

I hope your partner is also being treated.

sorry, I din't think I explained properly, I asked the GP to give me some treatment as a precautionary measure when I had the swab taken and before the results came back, just in case it was positive
My main concern is that has the 4 day treatment cleared it up as well as a 7 day one would... ?
Yes - otherwise he wouldn't have bothered prescribing them.
It's very common for doctors to give you antibiotics before you get the results anyway. Also there are a few different ways to go about clearing it up some involve a shot or a 3 day treatment and others a full week. I'm sure that they gave you the proper treatment for chlamydia
