what is the best way to brush your teeth, with a battery operated toothbrush

Try using the bristle end in your mouth I find the handle bit not quite as effective.

Rest the brush against your teeh and push very gently - if the motor 'strains' you are pushing too hard. Move the bursh slowly round your mouth, allowing it to rest for 10 - 15 seconds on each section of your teeth.

Put the batteries in before you operate :-|!

Also useful for many other things too... So i hear...

Take the batteries out and use as a normal brush, they seem to work better anyway!!
