spot that won't go away.

hi,
Apologies in advance but this is going to sound really horrible but 2 years ago i came back from my holiday abroad, as i was getting showered etc i looked in the mirror close up (as you do) and noticed a large black head on the middle of my cheek parallel to the middle of my nose, so as you do i squeezed it, and it came out. The problem is i've always had a spot in its place, well actually its like a hole that keeps getting infected. It builds up into a spot if i don't squeeze it. What generally happens is i can feel a lump forming under my skin, i then squeeze it, and once i've 'emptied the pore' the lump goes down and im left with a small hole. This wouldn't usually bother me but its right in the centre of my face and all the squeezing is beginning to scar my skin. I also suffer from body dysmorphic disorder, related to suffering from acne in my past. I'm definately not imagining this spot but my anxiety is causing me to focus on it so much.I know other people must notice it. My medical history aside, this is quite weird....a spot that never goes. I've tried leaving it and a bigger lump appears. Anybody any ideas what i can do or has anyone experienced something similar. sorry its so gross!

See your doctor. At least his opinion will either stop you worrying about it or get it treated.

Blackheads do often recur in the same spot, er, place! I have known ones to act the same way as the one you describe for decades.
Try removing it when it is ready with the end of a hairclip or the empty outer of a biro and hope it will decide not to re-appear some time, as they also often do.
Tea tree is definitely worth a try.
Good luck.

I had one above my eyebrow for seven years and now matter how well I thought I'd got all the gunk out, the blackhead kept returning. In the end I went to a salon for an extraction facial. Therapist didn't quit till the sucker was squeezed to death and miraculously a week later the pore closed up and has gone for good (that was three years ago). Well worth going to a good salon - check they do extraction facials first and explain your issue before booking. You want to make sure they know what they're talking about before you let them loose on your face! Good luck!
