I thought it was the infection in the mucous which goes green and other unpleasant colours. When you have phlegm in your lungs,the green colour 1s a sign of a chest infection.

an indicator of chest infections is also the coughing up of blood. It comes from the lungs.

its down to natural bacteria in the air.. completley harmless... but they get caught in the mucus (snot) and die, they themselves are green or yellow and so leave your snot looking green or yellow. That is the actual fact reason snot is green.
