Its a bit late now but if there is ever an illness likely to be carried through the family line, like cancer, forwarned is forarmed. She may not have even found it if she didnt check, and many women dont check as much as they should.
I hope its nothing, just a build up of fluid or a cyst and that she well. But please tell her!

Depending on how long she has to wait to go for the screening and wait for the results.
If its a long wait I would tell her the truth now but try to under estimate the seriousness of sisters condition.
If however she will get the results quite quickly, I would hold back telling her, till she knows her results for sure, just to stop her over worrying.

I agree with everyone else on this thread.
Your daughter really does need to know this information. Apart from anything else, she will be asked at the clinic if there is any family history of this cancer.
As there is, she will probably get priority in her diagnosis, and if any, treatment.
Hopefully, it is probably nothing at all, but better she has it checked out.

I know how you feel about worrying your daughter Monty, but I think it's best to know the thruth about family medical history.
If you think about it, your daughter may have gone to the doc's on her own without you knowing & wouldn't have been able to tell the doc much your medical history.
Our neighbour found lump in her breat 4 years ago & everyone in her family were beside themselves with worry, but she went on to have all appropriate treament & glad to say she's now very well & back to work.
I'm sure your daughter will be fine Monty, so try not to worry too much. Easier said than done I know.
Take care. -x-
P.S. Let's know how she gets on - thinking of you & yours...

Having been through having lumps investigated last year twice at the same age as your daughter it's one of the first questions they ask, often on a questionnaire you fill in before you see the consultant.
From what I remember for Ovarian cancer too and any other breast conditions.
If she is or could be pregnant she should let them know too as that can cause lumpy breasts.
There are often different referrals depending on risk ie things such as tethering and a close family history get a more urgent referral (I had tethering so was put on an urgent though harder to tell with me as am a 36G). Best to let her know as soon as possible.
I must say I had the most fantastic treatment from my local breast clinic on both occasions and it turned out to be benign fibrous adenoma.
Has she been sent some info about what they do at the clinic? They may go for a fine needle aspiration if they can feel it and a scan.
Has she got someone to go with her as it can be a bit of a wait between consultant then scan then consultant and sometimes they get you to wait for the results of the fine needle aspiration if they do one.
As said before, most lumps are benign and just fatty lumps.
Will be thinking of her tomorrow x

Good luck for your daughter MONTCRIEFF49 I had a real bad scare last year when a mamogramme showed a negative result, after another lot of ultra sound and prodding and poking it turned out ok in the end. It is very frightening for any woman to find a lump or any abnormality in her breast but most of the time it is nothing to worry about, I really hope this is the case with your daughter.
