Numb

I had an accident in November when I was thrown from a horse onto rocks. No broken bones fortunately but severe bruising. Now, some 8 weeks later, I still have no feeling on one side of my lower back. Anyone know why this is the case and whether the feeling will eventually return?

Well it must be nerve damage if there is no feeling, and I guess it doesn;t necessatily mean a nerve in your back, have you been to a specialist about this? what happened when you went to casualty? did they suggest there may be long term issues?

I was in so much pain that I didn't know until I stopped taking the painkillers that it was numb. I did see my GP when I got back and she prescribed strong pain killers and told me it would take at least 6 weeks before the pain went. She was right. I suppose that if I only have a numb bum then I have been lucky, it just feels weird.

I think you should get it checked out very thoroughly. Hopefully the feeling'll come back. I was thrown from my horse some years ago and couldn't walk for 6 weeks, but I had torn ligaments and a disc was partially moved. What with that, and a trapped nerve, I was in agony. Had to have physiotherapy and plenty of rest, but luckily I got better. Best of luck.
