Fats in oily fish and nuts are best and avoid too many crips and bicuits.
Because you are diabetic you should consult a nutritionist as your requirements may be different. I am no expert so please seek expert advice from someone who knows your condition.

Eat slow-release carbohydrates, such as porridge for your breakfast. Some fruits are full of sugar, such as grapes, so have a kiwi fruit instead. As the answer above suggests, it's best to consult your doctor, nurse or specialist dietician, as each persn's different., but unfortunately, if you stick to the rules, the foodstuff for someone who's insulin-dependent is pretty bland really. You need carbohydrates, but bread, biscuits, pasta, crackers, etc., contain gluten, which is bad for you. You can eat fish - even fried fish, but without the batter. Best to get it all checked out - x
the diet of a person with non-insulin diabetes is much more restricted and bland than someone with insulin dependent diabetes (although i don't think 'bland' is the way to describe it actually) if you're using insulin, to a large degree, you can adjust your insulin dose to suit what you eat. it should be just a 'healthy' diet, something we all should follow.
a question - why is gluten considered bad for a person with diabetes? my (insulin dependent) son regularly eats pasta, bread, crackers, in fact he needs to for the carbs. i would be interested to hear your gluten theory ice.maiden.
