Breathing difficulty
23 Answers
Hello
I'm having difficulty breathing, coughing constantly, crackling sound on exhaling and a slight burning sensation if I fully inhale. I'm on antibiotics but it's deteriorating................any ideas? Should I go to casualty or wait until tomorrow and see my doctor again as now I'm struggling a bit even sitting down.
All help appreciated.

If you are breathless whilst sitting down you need medical help ASAP.As an asthma sufferer for 20+ years and having been diagnosed with emphysema 18 months ago I know how you feel being breathless. Your chest infection could be pneumonia and you might need different antibiotics and possibly a stay in hospital for a couple of days. Please don't delay in getting help.x

Hi All
I waited it out and went back to the doctor this morning. He listened to my chest and sent me for an xray, which I also had this morning.
Doc said no more antibiotics until the result of xray comes through. I'll let you know the results when I get them.
Thanks for all the good wishes....it's nice to know you care.

Sorry to hear that you are still unwell rustyman hun , pleased you have been back to your doc and have more antibiotics and have been put on a course of oral steroids .The steroids will hopefully kick in soon and make you feel a bit better . Did you get the results of your chest x-ray btw ? Take care xxx
I was just grateful it wasn't as bad as the first time I had a collapsed lung, that time it was a complete collapse of right lung and I spent 9 days in hospital with a chest drain in dosed up to the eyeballs on morphine.I didn't know what day it was half the time.lol.Good stuff that morphine(can't have it now as it makes me throw up violently).Luckily the second collapse was a partial so not as serious(but still bl00dy painful). The hospital now have a note on my file saying any findings on x-ray have to be reported direct to my consultant and he then phones me.
