has anyone converted their religion to muslim? what kind of things are involved and how hard did u find it? my bf is muslim so it is somethign i want to and am prepared to do whatever the involvement, just wondered how other people have found the situation and any difficulties they've encountered. much appreciated.

Why do you feel that you have to convert to your boyfriend's religion? Can he not convert to yours? Why would either party feel the need to convert?

im not a muslim my self but lived in saudi arabia for a while when i was younger! like already mentioned it involves giving up pork! praying! possibly covering up your body and face when you go out, depending on how strict your bf is!

my family and i have never been particularly religious and religion is quite a big thing in my bf's family, they're not strict about it, but i feel it would make things easier on us. i agree with what i know already, the beleifs and all of that, i just wanted some practical advice not a bashing! smudge, a lot of non-muslim wives are treated just as bad, remember its majority bad press that joe public hears of.

Natty, most of the answers above r simply sign of lack of knowledge & ignorance.. :( Islam's a very diverse religion & beside few main dogmas (like absence of pork & alcohol in your diet) it all depends on a group of Muslims (Sunni, etc.) 1 belongs 2... Y don't u speak with ur bf, or his family (sisters?). As far as im concern, conversion is automatic with a marrige ceremony. I do not know where r u livin (country), but it'll b smart 2check the status of a Muslim law (get2know it2) in that country, before u get married.. good luck!

Firstly you need to do it because you believe in the religon, not because your bf is a muslim, this is most important!!To become a muslim, you simple declare the faith that "there is no other god exept, God and that Muhammed is the messenger of God" everything else that you do will be judged upon by god. If you read and truly believe and understand what you read then you wont find any of it difficult, the only thing i warn you is to be careful of what others tell you and advise you. Everything you need to know is in the Quran, it covers everything, so if you have doubt about something someone has told you or have a question then look for the answers in there. Good luck and seek knowledge for yourself....

natty congratulations for wanting to convert. the first thing involved is belief in god and his prophets may peace and blessing be upon them,second you must be prepared to do this yourself not just becouse youre boyfriends a muslim, third find some muslim friends who are willing to help you islam is not hard its easy to follow but you have to sacrifice social life meaning night clubing, eating haram ect, its worth the sacrifies if you want to live a better life hope eveything works out.

Hiya Natty. You'll find alot of negative stuff on Muslims due to media coverage. Nobody really has the knowledge you need on here! The best thing to do, is talk to Muslims themselves, and not us. You can visit one where women will be happy to help with anything. You can join on line groups who will be able to help with any questions you have on the Islamic way of life. Eg Muslim Women Yahoo groups. All the best. May this path be made easy for you, truly because it is the correct path.
