I think this happens with some people with some forms of exercise. It seems to have a stimulating effect on the whole system. You may find that with time you adjust to it. I've taught Yoga for over 30 years and initially found a tremendous energy surge after evening classes, still do to some extent but it doesn't now affect my sleep. However when I took up Ta Chi three years ago, like you I couldn't get to sleep til the early hours, but again my body seems to have adjusted. Is it recently you've taken to going swimming?

yes have been going past 2 months and its quite late at night whereas before it wasnt.
Where do you swim? In your local town? At the School? Lessons or just do as you please swimming? 4get will know why I ask ;o)
I'd just see how it goes, otherwise go swimming earlier.
My Tai Chi classes finish at 7.45 but my Yoga classes don't finish til 9pm and neither now affect my sleep.

in nearest town to me loftie. Cant go swimming any earlier that is when session starts. Is there any food that might help me sleep?
Is the session a lesson or just an opportunity to swim and are there quite a few sessions? Is it at the school.

Lettuce and turkey are said to release something that aids sleep. So a lettuce and turkey sandwich with a hot milky drink might help. Personally I can't bear the thought of hot milky drinks at bedtime!! Would rather have a hot toddy!!!

I think banana might help sleep. And no not at school an adult swim hour session
I'm looking for a swimming session at a private pool locally that doesn't just cater for groups. I can't find enough people for a group booking and can't afford to hire a swimming pool for an hour for just the two of us.

very good idea and thanks for that but I cannot stand the smell x
its because u have buylt up too mech qdrenaline!"1 u need to relax your self totally-when u get home after swimming try and meditate-there is lots of info on the net on how to do this, sit in a dark or darkened room (your bedroom maybe) clear your head of all thoughts and push amy thoughts coming in away- and and just concentrate on the 'nothingness' the here and now, and this should calm u rite down-do it 4 5-10 mins, or as long as you want to. this is also great in helping people who have anxiety, depression or panic attacks, and good 4 sports people who want to wind down. After, turn the lights off and try to sleep. Make a routine after u come back, have a warm relaxing bath with candles (NOT the bathroom light) or try the air wick flameless candle if that suits u better, have a milky drink-absolutly no tea or coffee, and dont drink red bull or lucozade during ur swimmin sessions, then meditate, then slowly try and fall asleep, breathing slowly and normally and u shouls start to fall asleep x
my gosh my spelling-i meant to say on the first line its because u have built up too much adrenaline.
