sticky eyes

my son who is nearly 2 woke this morning with really sticky eyes, i have ben cleaning them all day but they are really sore and red. anyone know anything i could use untill doc opens in the morning just to ease the pain a bit. i have tried tea bag and cleaning them with salt water

aww that sounds awful, like conjunctivitus

You can get treatments for conjunctivitis at the chemist. It is sore, I had it a while ago! Hope you don't have too bad a night!

hi thanks both cazzz i will have a look now. i have had a bad night for the last two as he is also really chesty anf full up with the flu. bless him its his birthday on thursday aswell.

ethanryan it could be that it isn't conjunctivitis then but just caused by his cold as my boy gets the same. Get to the chemist as soon as they open tomorrow and the pharmacist can advise you - my local one is a godsend!
Hope you have a better night with him tonight, mine is all olbas oiled up as he's all snotty too. :(

aww poor little man, its horrible when they are ill, especially near his birthday!!

I have bought stuff over the counter at the chemist for conjunctivitus myself, however I dont think they are open now and the treatment was nearly a fiver!

probably better going to the doctors and getting confirmation of whats wrong and a cheap prescription!!

thanks all, he is sleepin at the moment, prob not for long though, will just keep bathein it in salt water to try and ease the redness.knowin my doc though i will have to wait a week for an appointment.

I remember one of mine getting an eye infection when she had the cold and the H.V. saying if they have a runny nose they can wipe that and then rub their eye and that's what causes the irritation.
Aren't they just charming little creatures!

No salt water!!!

Clean them with clear water.
If anything try some camomile tea!

I just recently learned something from my doctor.
If the gunk coming out of the eye is yellow, it is actually stuff from the nose, pushing out through the eyes.
In that case try and get the nose to clear (with drops or one of those suckers) as well as washing the eyes (only clear water!)
