I keep getting the feeling that my outside ankle is very hot, but when I feel it - it is not. I had an operation on my spine 20 odd years ago, but surely it can be this. It has only just started happening in the last 2 weeks. Anyone any ideas please?

I have had that sensation too - feels hot enough to fry an egg, but cool to the touch! I had forgotten about it, but just lately I think it has progressed because my ankle is really painful in the mornings, I can hardly put my weight on it for about the first ten steps, then the ache goes and it seems OK for the rest of the day. I think I will have to go the doc's, but am burying my head in the sand at the moment!
Hope you get your sorted out.

WoW! I Thought That I Was The Only One. I Have Been Getting Hot Ankles Since I Was A Teen. I Am Now 27. I Dislike Going 2 Bed Having My Feet Covered. Also During Periods Of The Day I Won't Want Any Socks On My Ankles, So I Tend 2 Stick W/Ankle Socks That Do Not Cover Them. My Ankles Feel Hot But R The Same Tempature As The Rest Of My Body! The Feeling Is Uncomfortable, Especially During Any Given Day Or Time. Also, Since I Was A Child I Have Had & Still Have RLM {Rapid Leg Movement} Mainly B4 I Go 2 Bed & During My Sleep!! They Have A Treatment 4 RLM But I Will Not Take It Because It Contains The Same Stuff Used 4 Parkinsons Disease.
I Have Mentioned Many "ODD" Things Like The Hot Ankles 2 My DoctorS, Who Never Have An Answer 2 Anything.
I'm Glad I Googled "Hot Feelings In The Ankles".
Can Anyone Please Conversate W/Me Concerning This Matter. [email protected]
It might be a fungus related to your toes, etc. But likely it is either nuerophrathy or bad circulation in your ankles. Either of the later could be caused by damage to the ankle by injuring a nerve or capillary prob;ems in the skin. Probably ought to go see a dermatologist and rule out funguses, etc. Soak your feet in cold water for 10 minutes on each leg and you will get some relief.
A company in California called "McVitamins.com" offers Thiamen in a transformed pill which is said to really help the burning and tingling. Some clinical trials have been done in England and the U.S> and substantiated the claim that Thiamen can help. But when you go to the site, be sure to read the topic on nueropathy so you'll understand how McVitamin's pill is different from what you might buy at health food store or Walmart Pharmacy.
Wow! it's now 2012 & I posted back in 2008!! I still can not find an answer to my hot ankles! I had no operations, or fungus in my toes. I'll have to look into if it could be poor circulations. They don't feel like they are burning or tingling, just hot. I've mentioned it to a few Dr's. But I recieve no explanation as of yet.
I'm currently sitting here with a fan on my feet & computer in my face so decided to do another search. Funny how this was the 1st site I pulled up!! I can't believe I used to type every word with a capital letter! Ha!
I'll be sure to update if I ever come across my answer :)
I just started feeling this sensation a couple of months ago! So strange, as you search to find an answer, how many people share the same symptom! Did anyone find an answer? I have not brought it up to my doctor yet, since its only been a couple months. Mine is on the outside of my right ankle. At random times throughout the day my ankle will gradually begin to warm up???
