Warfarin tablets (having an operation)
1 Answers
Last week, my grandad (65) was diagnosed with bowl cancer. He had a scan there and then to discover how bad the cancer has got......
He went back today and was told the tumour hasn't fully developed as yet. Now in normal circumstances this would mean it would be quite easy to operate on and help my grandad to easily recover, however my grandad is currently taking warfarin tablets due to a heart condition and is overweight. He has been told they may not be able to operate and has been given 3 years to live if the specialist feels his heart can't take the strain once off the warfirin tablets and on the operating table..
Has anyone been in a similar position?
Sorry I appreciate I've rambled on but I'm still slightly in shock!!!
Thanks

My mother in law has suffered bowel cancer twice and a gynalogical cancer in between which was said to be completely unrelated. Throughout her illnesses she was very overweight and ill with the second bowel cancer 18 months ago and her surgeon warned the family that her heart may not cope as it was a massive operation however there was no chance of survival without it, she was 72 at the time and is still here large as life. I know each case is different and indeed I dont think she was on warfarin but I think I'm trying to give you some hope, we thought things were so desperate at the time but she surprised us. I really hope and pray things work out for you and your grandad too. Take Care.
