Pigmentation & sun damaged skin
3 Answers
I have taken some drastic action - have laser facial treatment for hyperpigmentation on both sides of my cheeks. It has been 3 wks since my second treatment. I have noticed that the pigmentation have not cleared instead it is getting darker, I'm very concerned what should I do? I have taken steps in preventing exposure to the sun. There's a few more treatment to undergo, should I further the laser treatment or resort to alternatives treatment by means of natural skin rbleaching. I know it'll not work overnight but I'm desperate, pls. help.

The woman claimed to have gotten treatments and had it removed (she didn't go into specifics) and it just kept reappearing. I really don't know what you should do in this situation. Maybe talk to the doctor who's treating you about the "failed" cases he knows of. If it's just freckles or small birthmarks maybe you can use some good makeup. Or that just doesn't help?
I have heard of this happening. It is even common to happen with skin bleaching.I have been using a "fade cream" for my skin (for freckles and old pinmple marks) that contains hydroquinone, and on the packaging it says the same thing about spots could darken. It also says if this happens to notify your doctor. My advice to you is obvious~ask your doctor. If you are still unsure, ask another doctor you arent giving your money to if you should continue. Your plastic surgeon or whoever is giving you the laser surgery should have noticed what is happening, and if they thought it was bad probably wouldnt continue doing it to your face. However, make sure you have a certified plastic surgeon with a good rep as well. Good luck to you!
Hi Swee. Was wondering, before you went ahead with the laser treatment, did the nurse ask you to consent to the terms and conditions? Because I am sure they contain info about hypo-pigmentation, and that it can occur as a side effect. This worries me, and so I have decided against this treatment. My local laser clinic have avaiable a special cream for such cases, as you describe. It's called NeoStrata skin lightening gel 30 for 40ml. It contains hydroquinonine known to lighter the darkend areas. It does take 3 months to notice an effect though, but worth it I think. Let me know how you get on. All the best.
