HELP! got sunburn before going on holiday =(
12 Answers
ok well basically 5 days ok i went off to a theme park for the day wearing a strappy top, now since being a teenager i have barely gone out in the sun so for the past 5 years i have been very pale. Now stupid me forgot 2 put sun cream on, as i never used to burn i completely forgot. It has been 5 days but it still hurts my skin when moving as my chest and shoulders are burnt. Now tomorrow morning i am going to spain where it is even hotter, the villa doesn't have air con and i can't wear anything but the same sort of top i was wearing at the beginning of the week as the blisters on my shoulders and simply the burn on my chest are excrusiatingly painfully when just trying to change tops. I may just be being a whimp, but i can't walk without being in pain. I used aftersun from the day i got burnt but have been told by my parents to use a Neutrogena moisturiser since yesterday but now the blisters have appeared and its very painful to try and put the moisturiser on. Should i switch back to the aftersun and what can i do as having aftersun going on holiday is a new situation to me?

What ever you do don't expose yourself to the sun whilst you are away.
You don't need to sunbathe to enjoy yourself in Spain. Keep cool and enjoy sitting in the shade and just taking in the whole experience.

Just to add i'm not the type of teenager who associates sun with a tan. I simply forgot the suncream because i was having a good day. On holidays i never purposely sunbathe, infact i was planning on staying indoors all the time with or without sunburn. I'm normally always covered up with t-shirts but i was simply too hot so had to wear a strappy top or most probably get heat stroke.
If you have difficulty rubbing in sun cream then you can buy the spray on sun protection. Try and see if you can get the highest factor possible. You might still have to buy a sun block and try and bare rubbing it in.
When you are not swimming or sitting in the shade I would now wear a top all the time that protects your shoulders.

Buy some Aloe Vera when you're abroad. Spanish locals swear by it for sunburn (my patents live in Spain). You can buy aftersun sprays/gels with aloe vera in it which are very cooling and speed up the healing process. Or you can buy pure aloe vera in shops/ at markets in Spain. It's a pity you've left it so late! There is a cream called Dermidex which is prescription only and is used for sunburn. It has an anaesthetic in it. If you do go to A & E, maybe they could give you some?
Good luck!
