Are they the ones that are meant to dissolve?
Question Author
yes
I had them in my mouth when I had my wisdom teeth removed, I think it took 2 - 3 weeks for them to dissolve fully
It is a matter of "how long is a piece of string?"CAJ1 is correct, but the odd "rogue" stitch may stay in for 3-4 months....don't worry.

ok cheers everyone
I had a septo-rhinoplasty(nose job for medical reasons) in December last year and one of my stitches didn't dissolve as it was supposed to,the ENT surgeon advised me to leave it in unless it starts to bother me as it would mean cutting the lining of my nose to remove it now which could cause more problems. It is still there now almost 10 months later!
If you are worried make an appointment to see your GP or practice nurse who will be able to advise better than any of us lot.
"Better than us lot".......how do you know that one or even more of "us lot" may be equally or even better qualified than GP or Practice nurse.
In the same vein........How could I know if any of us lot is claiming to be a medical professional but is really not at all?
That is why it is always best to advise someone to see a GP or practice nurse about these things is it not?

You seem to have a problem with any advice I give sqad, what is your issue with me?
I have yet to see any of "us lot" who have claimed to be a medical professional and as far as I know, I have only come to blows with only one topic and I have apologised for that one.
Very occasionally stitches don't dissolve as they should. See the Practice Nurse at your GP surgery. No problem removing any that don't disappear... just a little 'nick' and a slight pull! If the stitch hasn't gone after about three weeks then make an appointment with the nurse. Hopefully all will be resolved by then.
Would not know, but do know people who have taken out their own stitches. Would not really advise this, but if you do this make sure you have sterilized the scissors first.

If you want to be in stiches, then just look at the jokes in the Jokes section.
