11 Answers
i have recently become more and more aware of the dangers of fire related illnesses and (for want of a better phrase), found myself growing paranoid at the thought of SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION. My question to you is, what do i do in the event that i suddenly burst into a screaming, reeling ball of fire and death? please help!!

Didn't they prove that spontaneous combustion is just a myth? It was hard to find out because the people it supposedly happened to were always along (there's a clue there about whether it exists) and they found out that it was normally people who were on medication or drunk who set fire to themselves and were too out of it to put themselves out! The body actually burns slowly a bit like a candle with the fat acting as fuel and the rest of you as a wick and so the feet were often the only bit left because there's not much fat there. Hope you've clamed down now greywaters.
Most cases involved smoking and the victims were usually known to drink spirits. many were overweight. Sometimes SHC occurs in small areas of the body like one man who noticed a bright blue flame coming from his leg though he felt no pain. He pulled up his jeans to see the flame coming from a small hole in the leg and managed to smother it with his hands, after a short while the flame had died out.He went to the doctor who stitched up the wound. Most aren't so lucky and the "fire" starts inside the stomach or chest. I absolutely believe in this phenomenon but it's very rare. Whatever you do, don't dowse the flame in water. Just like those chip pan fire demonstrations...Good luck greywaters!
