Is there a dentist in the house.? or on AB
8 Answers
I just wondered if we had a denist that was on AB.? Only I have a question to ask. One of my wisdom teeth on left hand side has never come through but I have in my gum ,towards my tongue a hard lump which feels almost like a point. Sometimes it is really sore and almost aches at that point. Could it be a tooth trying to come through.?

Hi
I have a similar problem, although I am no dentist.
It is quite common to have a partial or deformed wisom tooth that eiter never appears or just peeks through the skin. I have 4 wisdom teeth that are normal and this wierd 'nubbin' thing that is just tiny and sticks through.
Mine causes me no problem, but I suggest if it's bothering you go and see your dentist

I'm really not a dentist!
but what you probably have is an impacted wisdom tooth. if it's not punctured the gum (come through) then it's probably on its way. they can grow in spurts so it migth settle again for a while. they can come through at bizarre angles so you'll probably be seeing a real dentist at some stage!

The most likely diagnosis is an un-erupted (buried) lower third molar (wisdom tooth)
However, it may also be either:
1) a mandibular torus
2) a lingual bony exostosis
Both of which are 'bony lumps' which are quite innocent and would normally not be treated.
I'm sure a quick visit to your dentist would let you know what you can feel, and make sure that all is well.
