ladies night (freemasons)

My partner is a freemason and ive been invited to the ladies night....I havent a clue what to wear, can anyone give me some advice on this please!

went once,with my parents,30 years ago.was getting over fluso ,for some reason drank whisky,made total fool of myself.felt great when got up went to work,after half hour passed out,never drunk whisky sinse.

When I was a wee lass we had a party in a friends house, her father was the Grand Master of the local Masonic Hall. We dared her to get his case with all the paraphernalia out which he kept in a locked wardrobe. It took all of ten minutes to find the key and we had a wonderful time for the rest of the evening with the contents.I dread to think what would have happened if he had found out. They get up to some very peculiar things.But on the other hand look after their own very well.

Lil75...a cocktail dress would be perect. It's a bl...dy dinner for Christ's sake. The "*******" who have answered are p..sed off because it is a Freemasons evening. o different from the GolfClub Dinner, Tennis Club Dinner, Wakefield Working Man'sDinner etc.....good and bad evenings all exist. Enjoy yourself Lil.

mrs_o - I can relate to your experience!

I've been to two ladies nights - never again!

The first one was soooo unbelievably boring & the second one was even more boring!

The live bands were crap & the musicians all looked as though they were ready to fall off their perches at any minute!

lil - I wore fitted strappy black dresses each time, along with a little jewellery & nice strappy shoes - but some of the 'old fashioned' ladies wore long flowery crimplene dresses of all things!

Just wear what ever you feel comfy in, but more importantly, be 'yourself'.

You never know, you might enjoy it. ;o}

My god, I didnt realise I would get such a huge response!!! I have read through all the comments, and have laughed so much reading them.....hmm, I dont want to go, but im gonna have to, the worst thing of all, I hate people up there own ars*s, all that hoity toity bull, oh my god, can you imagine this!!! pmsl....I will let you know how it goes, if I can manage to contain myself for the evening!

I went to this night last year and had a really good night! There was about 10 of us (5 couples) in our crowd so we just enjoyed ourselves, had quite a few drinks and danced to the geriatric band! I'm looking forward to this years!

It was quite dressy though, I wore a knee length black satin pencil skirt and a fitted black top with skyscraper black and white polka dot heels. Others wore dresses and only one person was in dressy trousers, so I would say dress up for it!

Hi - my Grandad was a Mason and I remember going to their Junior Parties and when I was old enough a Ladies Evening in Leeds. I just remember it being lovely but I was probably carried away with the glamour (in Leeds!). Long dresses and dancing. I do remember being really confused when they prayed to 'The Great Architect of the Universe'.
I remember at his funeral too all these men turning up and standing to attention at the back of the church - my grandma was furious as she hadn't invited them! Not sure she fitted into the Mason's wife role somehow!
I'd go if I was you - you might have a laugh! But expect MCP's all the way!
