something in my eye
8 Answers
Monday evening after shaving someone's head and bulding a multi gym, I sat down to find my eye uncomfortable blurry and waterery. I rubbed it like something was in the eye, and later went to look in the mirror to see if I could see anything in the eye because it was still uncomfortable.
I went to bed that evening with still a little discomfort, but when I closed my eye to try and sleep it was more painful I continued to get out of bed during the night to look in my eye again, get someone else to look and to try and rinse the eye out with water.
However with no success trying to find anything I managed to sleep with the problem in the end. It is now wednesday afternoon and still there is something in my eye. The pain is very slight during the day and is only slightly uncomfortable. But at night it still hurts when I try to close my eye to sleep.
I have no registered doctor and there is no NHS drop in centre near me. What do you think I should do and has anyone else experienced this??

I had something similar quite a while ago. I felt like something was in my eye but could not see anything. It drove me mad!!!
I eventually found a tiny piece of grit embedded on the inside of my top lid. I had to almost turn the lid inside out, hold it and my hubby removed the grit with a cotton bud. The relief was instant and wonderful.
If you really can't see anything and it bothers you that much perhaps try a pharmacist or as a last resort go to a & e.

You may have scratched the surface of your eye,my daughter poked me in the eye when she was a baby and badly scratched my eyeball, the hospital put some really bright green eye drops in my eye and then examined it with a special light thingy...........have no idea what they are called.lol. The doctor who examined me then went and fetched every member of A&E staff he could find so they could all gawp at the enormous scratch on my eyeball.I felt like quite a celebrity.pmsl.
Seriously, don't mess about where eyes are concerned and get yourself down to the hospital for an examination.

thanks for the answers I have read the NHS info on eye injuries and it does say a scratch left after a piece of grit or such is removed can fell like there is something else in there.
And it said scratches can take 24-72 hours the heal, so I think I might go home tonight and try and turn the lid inside out. But if I cannot find anything in there I might have to go see someone in it doesnt go in the 72 hours healing time?
I think it might be a hair from the shaving or even a little fragment of metal from the multi gym??
I am off into town now so I might go into boots and see if they know anything???
Thanks again
I will update you on the eye saga when I know something
