Ever seen a fat Alkie?

I have never seen a fat alcoholic.I am being serious as I know its a serious condition.

I often wonder why.

I lost a power of weight with stopping drinking (wasnt that a heavy drinker anyway but I stopped) and also embraced a healthy diet -didnt bother me at all -in fact I felt better than I ever had felt.(I do imbibe now tho -no point in being a goody two shoes and lying)

Anyway -I digress -what is it that makes true Jakies thin??

two fat alcoholics in my family. Nans gotta be 13 stone and my uncle has to be 16 stone, easily. Plus all the fatties I used to serve in wetherspoons, there are plenty of them out there dris.

Alcoholics come from all social spheres.

If they don't have much money, they can't afford to drink and eat.

Simple as that.

O I thought it was something to do with enzymes or something.

I wondered once why an alkie could get p!ssed on a can of Special Brew and I was given thr reason but I cant remember now hence the reason i was asking.

I know that true alkies dont eat as they have no appetite as I tuck into a prawn cocktail Gravy.

I know a couple of fat alcoholics,one of them is clinically obese,she is known locally as pi**y Pat,(the starred out letters are ss).The other one is my next door neighbour,mind you, he has lost a lot of weight since he had a really bad stroke earlier this year and has stopped drinking as he is now practically bed-bound.

Jings -it must be an urban myth which I bought in to as every alki in this town is stick thin.

I honestly lhought it was to do with your body just breaking down hence them getting p!shed on one can.

i dont drink much but when i drink wine i dont want to eat .so if i drunk a bottle of wine a day i think i would lose weight ;0

Gravy how can you call me fat -when you can see the bones sticking out my skin -and you were the very person who was complimnetary about me.

Lol Dris, there's a lot of fat alkies round my way. I used to work with one. He always came to work with a red face and had a huge beer belly.

I'm a 'recovering' alcoholic.I can assure you that alcoholics come in all shapes and sizes ! I happened to be a thin one when I was drinking (8 stone). I'm naturally small, but what I drank was not fattening, my 'meals' and my drinks consisting entirely of vodka and tomato or orange juice ( I was living on little else) .Only time I put on weight was when my liver gave up.When that happens the body retains fluid, so I was carrying two stone or more of retained water.At that stage you aren't far from death, without serious medical intervention, so you're beyond the stage of socialising in a pub much !

Most proper alcoholics drink spirits , vodka being a favourite , but beer will do.Beer drinkers are more likely to put on weight, there being more calories in beer.
