Sensible but nice shoes

I am looking for some shoes which are supportive and comfortable but nice and fashionable at the same time if possible for a range of uses such as social, work and going out.

With arthritis and menieres, I have given up heels and have mostly been wearing crocs recently or trainers with supportive soles in.

I've had a bit of a downer recently about wanting to wear nice pretty shoes, especially after comments from the ex. He has made me a bit paranoid as was constantly going on about making more of myself and is currently off on a holiday with his new lady doing all kinds of things I couldn't.

I went to meet my family yesterday . Wore little ballet shoe flats to look nicer and really struggled with all the walking and felt so uncomfortable and am still in pain today.

I didn't want to let them see how much it affects me. They went into a shop and after finding the lift wouldn't work I made out I'd stay down and have a cigarette rather than struggle up a few flights of stairs.

My brother and his girlfriend also took me somewhere for a drink before my train home and I went despite being in a lot of pain already.

that sounds horrible.. and.. I was thinking your ex sounded like a nice(ish) bloke!

can't you get a special in-sole made that would give you the support you need, and put them in different shoes?

That's an idea. I have some in my trainers though they won't fit in other shoes nicely but may look into getting some made.

I do like breatheable shoes, part of why I love the crocs as well as the comfort, as my feet always seem to get really warm.

To an extent I'm ok with some of the limitations though it was hard with the way my ex was about them and upsetting to see he's now with someone who can do what I couldn't.

someone recommended sorbothane insoles to me as I get shin splints when I run (it's rare!) and they were great.. but obviously I don't have a real problem.

I wear crocs to work and just have some nicer shoes on standby for when any clients come in.

Out of 9 of us, 6 of us have arthritis and one has sciatica so we're a pretty understanding lot really :)

Ever since I discovered Hotter Shoes, I've not bought any others (yep, true, even their slippers are great)... not cheap though but I still have a pair of *sunshine* that cost me �47 nearly 10 years ago and the heels haven't even started to wear down. I also have a pair of sandals (can't remember the model) in which the leather insoles came loose, I rang Hotter up and they advised me to return them... I got a brand new pair back by return... cos all of their shoes are guaranteed for life...

Yes, I agree with the lady about Hotter shoes. You can order them on the internet and they are sent by post. what's more you can select 2 or 3 pairs and try them on at home and send back the ones you don't want. A free return label is sent with them. I have always had trouble finding shoes as I take a 3E or 3EE but I have got some comfortable ones from them. Good luck

That's great for wider fittings too as I had a wide fitting and can't wear narrow shoes :)

Hotter shoes are also available in a lot of Clarkes Shoe Shops...so you can see them, try them on etc before you buy.. or just buy from shop if they have your size etc in stock.. Honestly, they are great guys and are a British company making fabby shoes, as I said earlier, I only buy their stuff nowadays... Buy British, I say !
