This is bugging me big time
Local pub, small place owned by a girl of around 40 who sold her house etc to buy the place. Its been open a year and like a lot of businesses is struggling.
Two of the bar staff, one a single girl of 20 the other a single mum (2 young kids) of around 35.
They both do work in other local bars
I started using the place around 5 months ago when i moved to the area.
One Friday night around 4 months agoi noticed a group of people, friends of the bar staff were getting drinks and not paying for them, I saw no money change hands no credit cards,no written tab,nor anybody go to the till etc.
In the five months i have become a regular and know all the people concerned fairly well.
these friends only come into the pub when these two girls are working and its pretty much a 100% dead cert the landlady will not be around.
One of the friends used to work in this pub and i believe she was sacked, and i know the landlady doesnt particularly like her, and i can understand why, shes very coarse and has a foul mouth on her.
Friday just gone i was there with a friend and it was a very quiet evening and in walks the friends, 6 of them, the usual faces, I saw a round of drinks given to them and a couple of packets of crisps but i didnt see any financial transaction of any sort whatsoever.
Around 1 hour later i saw one of the staff getting her boyfirend a pint of guinness, i said to the friend i was drinking with to watch what happens...sure enough he wasnt charged, and my mate said it looks like i am correct in what is going on.
She didnt come over to the till and make a note of it to maybe pay it later, in short it was another freebie.
I liitle while later i saw the boyfriend and his mate get two more drinks a half of guinnes and i think it was a half of lager, for which they did pay.

(god that sounded really rude, wasnt meant that way) but really all I;m saying is if the landlord is stupid enough not to do proper stock takes and realise she is losing drink somewhere then thats her own fault, also she should have cameras on the bar anyway.
this woman has sold her house, for heaven's sake.. and this bunch of low lives are ripping her off. it's nothing short of theft, and they can be prosecuted for it.
you really need to let her know, maybe anonymously. tell her to install cctv and record the goings-on.
she doesn't deserve this. she obviously trusts them and she needs to be told the truth.

Yes, I totally agree with all the other posts above; this sort of thing could finish a pub which is struggling. I very much doubt if they have got a tab to run op, as how many pubs give credit?
Do you know the name of this girl who works behind the bar?
I would be given the sack as a bus driver if I gave any of my friends free rides in the bus. This can be awkward if all my friends are in a football team, and they all get on at the same time.
You should tell the landlady in writing, or by email, as soon as you can. I email any pub I see with a spelling mistake in their sign, by saying "I hope your food and beer is better than your spelling".
