I don't think my boyfriend has got me anything for my birthday although he did say if I saw a pair of shoes I liked he would get them for me but if I don't see any then he won't have anything as a back up! I originally thought he was going to propose as I found a bit of paper but don't think he is going to now.

Would it annoy you if your other half gave you nothing on your birthday?

I am quite used to my other half not getting me anything for birthdays,christams,valentines etc. It used to bother me but it doesn't now.Its just the way he is.................tight as a duck's @rse!!! lol

I have been with him for so long now CAJ1 that I barely notice any more. The one thing I do put my foot down about is when we go weekly shopping,he will go for all the really rubbish saver brand stuff whereas I insist on decent loo rolls,brand name baked beans,decent cuts of meat etc.We aren't well off but I refuse to eat rubbish and use loo roll that scratches my delicate bits.lol

Why are so many women willing to put up with and expect so little?

If he loves you and cares for you, he would want to make your birthday special. If he gets you nothing, that makes him a thoughtless skinflint. Why would you want him to propose. Aim higher my dear.

In the case of my other half Velvetee it isn't the material things that matter.He has saved my life (no i'm not being over dramatic) on two occasions and has been there for me when nobody else was..........that is more important to me than any expensive gift could be.

I agree Daffy, I couldn't find a better man. He helped me turn my life around in the last 2 years. I used to be in a violent relationship and he has helped me regain my confidence, has made me feel loved and been there for me when I support him. I'm not after extravagant gifts, I just want to make sure he's put a little bit of effort in!

His was last month cazzz so maybe santa won't bring him anything instead. I'm sure I must have it all wrong.

He has offered to get me some shoes if I wanted them but I would have liked him to get me something off his own back and I don't know what he'll do if I don't find any!
