Does a persons body automatically put weight on in the winter? I always seem to gain weight in the winter and wondered if this is because the body is storing more fat to keep you warm?

I think we are programmed to eat more fatty and stodgy food in the winter to keep warm. Survival instinct.

I don't think we automatically get fatter though.
A lot of people tend to be less active in the winter too; it is a combination of winter comfort foods and less exercise that makes you put weight on.

Porridge is excellent food for the winter. It fills you up and keeps you satisfied longer. Make it will water, skimmed or semi skimmed milk. Great food for people who want to keep trim!
