Unwanted telephone calls

My girl friend has been receiving unwanted telephone calls . She has the number but wishes to know who exactly is making them . Is there anyway of tracing a uk landline telephone number to the person making the calls

Sometimes entering the phone number into a search engine such as Google will give you the name to go with the number.If that doesn't work tell her to phone the number but to dial 141 first if she doesn't want the person on the other end to know it is her calling.

just ring and ask them who they are and why they keep calling

Just tell them you have the number and are going to take it to the police...that should do the trick, if it doesnt, then I really would go to the police with it!!!

I had this problem before, twice: both a few years ago.....
The first time I had no number and didn't know who it was.....My mum reporetd it to my phone company, who then reported it to the police...It took the police over 6 weeks but they came back with the number...turned out it was my (so called) best friend.
I havn't spoken to her since!

The 2nd time, I had the number and he gave me his first name, but I had no idea who he was, he was constantly bombarding me with txts and calls, luckilly in the end tho it just stoppe and i never heard from him again. Odd.

I say report it to the police.

who is the phone with? call the operator and tell them about it and they can disclose the number thats been ringing you. Ive done it before when some pedo kept ringing me from a free ad i put in the paper for some car boot clothes. Once i had the number i contacted the police and they were able to track from his number an address and arrested him
