You can't help but push, can you? The internal contractions move the baby down the birth canal anyway, but sometimes you just need that extra squeeze to help it along!
Thanks Ice. I've never given birth, but I'm watching the telly and someone has just given birth. The midwife kept saying "push, push" and it occurred to me, would the baby come out anyway?
I guess the urge to push is there and it feels right?
Lol ' Elvis - and sorry chappie, I didn't realise hun.
No, you can't help but puish, whether you want to or not. The hardest part's if the midwife tells you NOT to - you can't stop what's going on inside, but you have to try not to force. If the mother gets a bit too tired, she's encouraged to push a bit more, but my two were out very quickly. x
My brother reckons that when his twins were born, they shot out like two bullets!
(Bet he wouldn't have thought that if he was the one actually giving birth!)
I went into the delivery room just a couple of minutes after their births. They were very small, scraggly-looking things. They weighed three pounds apiece. They soon blossomed out into beautiful babies though.
It's not half as bad as some people make out, chappie. I know that I was one of the lucky ones, but I just went in with an attitude that - well - I couldn't stop what was going on, so I had to get on with it. I wasn't frightened - i was so excited. Think that might've helped.
Lol - it's like no other pain that a woman ever had before. can't explain it, but for me personally, it wasn't too bad at all. Some women have higher pain threshholds than others; some unfortunately have complications. Just depends on the woman, and the attitude she has towards it.
