chicken pox

my partner is having chemo and must be carefull about infections, the problem is my grandson cought the chicken pox virus the spots came out on him on the 1st of December, my question is is he still contagious ? as we would love to have him here for Christmas. But we do have to be careful as I have said

my nephew had them recently and we were told that once the spots were 'crusty' then he was no longer infectious - advised that at that point he could go back to nursery so I would think he would be absolutely fine - I suppose you might want to hear this from a professional though.
